STEM Integration

STEM INTEGRATION

Services / STEM Integration

The Learning Resources Development Unit has been, since 2014 intentionally, integrating Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics into the resources developed. Instructional Designers/Developers, working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), analyse skill areas for which resources are being developed to determine the applicable STEM principles and content and then develop materials to ensure that these areas are addressed.

The presence of STEM may be conspicuous or inconspicuous, for example; the learning outcomes, related content, suggested instructional strategies, suggested assessment projects/activities in the curriculum documents. The aim is to help instructors and trainees to adequately cover the applied science, technology, engineering and mathematics principles and concepts during instruction and to help instructors to create learning environments that facilitate the trainees’ development of STEM-related skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and innovation.
